Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an incredible machine that scans the layers of the retina, the part of your eye responsible for converting light into images.

Did you know that the layers of your retina look like mountain ranges when they are viewed up close? Your retina is only one-quarter of a millimetre thick, containing layers and layers of cells.

An OCT scan assists in diagnosing and treating several eye diseases.

Measuring the pressure inside of your eye helps diagnose eye diseases like glaucoma. Our offices are equipped with different ways to measure your intraocular pressure using the Perkins Goldmann tonometer and the iCare non-contact tonometer.

Frequency Doubling Technology (FDT) allows your optometrist to effectively detect visual field loss. This equipment is highly sensitive which makes for easy detection of damage caused by glaucoma and other ocular and retinal disorders. 

The Humphrey visual field test measures your visual field, including your central and  peripheral vision. The visual field shows changes that can point to diseases such as cataract, stroke, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetes.

Pachymetry is a simple, quick, and painless test that measures the thickness of the cornea. Measuring the corneal thickness allows your optometrist to test for glaucoma and determine if you’re a good candidate for laser eye surgery.

An autorefractor is a computer-controlled machine that digitally measures a person’s refractive error by seeing how light enters the eye. This allows your optometrist to determine your prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
